Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal collision in Newlyn North this evening, Victoria Police say.
Investigators have been told a car and a small truck collided on the Midland Highway shortly before 5pm.
The male driver of the car died at the scene.
The male passenger was conveyed to hospital in a serious condition.
The male driver of the truck was not injured and stopped at the scene to offer assistance.
Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash should contact Crime Stoppers.
