Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a serious collision involving a stolen vehicle in Tarneit on Sunday, 18 May has turned fatal.
Emergency services were called to reports a Haval Jolion collided with a Toyota Camry before crashing into a pole at the intersection of Doherty's Road and Werribee-Melton Road about 1.25am.
Two teenage boys, occupants from the Haval, were initially taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The 16-year-old from Hoppers Crossing died in hospital yesterday.
The 16-year-old from Werribee remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
A third boy in the car, a 16-year-old from Werribee, has been released from hospital.
Fortunately, the occupants of the Toyota did not sustain any serious injuries.
Checks have revealed the Haval was stolen from a shopping centre carpark on Hummingbird Boulevard, Tarneit, on 10 May.
Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
