Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash which occurred near Newlyn this evening, Victoria Police say.
Officers have been told a car was headed south-west along Midland Highway about 6.20pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car left the road and crashed in a tree.
The driver, believed to be man 30s, died at the scene.
Emergency services are on scene and an investigation into the crash continues.
