At 3.31pm Tuesday 29/01/2017 Emergency Services attended the scene of a fatal crash on the Bass Highway Leith. A female cyclist in her 70s has died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained, Tasmania Police say.
Preliminary investigations indicate the cyclist appeared to have failed to give way during an attempt to cross the Bass Highway at the Braddons Lookout intersection. The female was subsequently was struck by a west bound Toyota Corolla.
Traffic from Bass Highway was diverted along Leith Road and Lillico Road. Police are investigating the crash and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.
