Fatal crash in Gillenbah

A report will be prepared for the Coroner after a fatal crash in the state’s south, NSW Police say.

About 10.15am today, a westbound B-double truck and a westbound Holden Cruze sedan collided on the Sturt Highway, Gillenbah, near Narrandera.

The Cruz contained four adult females. One of the women, aged 52, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was trapped for a period of time before dying at the scene.

The three other occupants of the Cruz, including the driver, were taken to Wagga Wagga Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old man, was uninjured. He was taken to Narrandera Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Police from Griffith Local Area Command attended the scene and are conducting inquiries into the incident.

The Sturt Highway was closed for approximately nine hours, with diversions in place.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
