Police are investigating a fatal crash in the state’s Central West, NSW Police say.
Just before 7pm today (Friday 31 August 2018), a truck and car collided on the Newell Highway at Back Creek, approximately 18 kilometres from West Wyalong.
The driver of the car, a 54-year-old man, died at the scene.
His female passenger, a 52-year-old woman, was taken to West Wyalong Hospital and later airlifted to Wagga Base Hospital suffering critical injuries.
The truck driver wasn’t injured; however, has been taken to hospital to undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.
Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District established a crime scene and an investigation into the crash is underway.
The Newell Highway is closed in both directions and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
