One person died in a crash on Taneatua Road, Whakatāne last night.
The single vehicle crash was reported to Police at 11.55pm.
The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene but reopened at around 4.30am.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way.
