Fatal, Darling Downs District

A man has died following a traffic crash in the Darling Downs district last night, September 14.

Around 6.20pm, officers were called to the New England Highway near The Summit, following reports of a crash involving a Mack truck and Mitsubishi Pajero.

As a result of the impact, both vehicles left the roadway and caught fire.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi, a 60-year-old Collingwood Park man, died at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 65-year-old man from New South Wales, sustained minor injuries.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit (FCU) are ongoing.
