Fatal glider crash - Eglinton, near Bathurst, NSW

A man has died in a glider crash near Bathurst, NSW Police say.

Just before 1pm (Sunday 21 January 2018), emergency services were called to an air field on Freemantle Road, Eglinton, after a glider crashed into a field.

Police attended and located the wreckage. A grass fire was contained by Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Fire & Rescue NSW officers.

The 75-year-old male pilot died at the scene. No further details are available on his identity.

A crime scene has been established and investigations have commenced.

Aviation Support Branch and Gliding Federation of Australia (GFA) personnel will be in attendance to assist Chifley detectives in the investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
