A man has died following a helicopter crash in the Murrumbidgee region this afternoon.
Just after midday (Wednesday 26 May 2021), emergency services were called to property on Toopuntul Road, Maude, about 50km west of Hay, following reports a helicopter had crashed.
The male pilot – and sole occupant – died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended and established a crime scene, which is still being forensically examined.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
