Fatal pedestrian crash at Toongabbie

A child has died after being struck by a vehicle in Sydney's west yesterday.

Just before 5.15pm (Friday 12 January 2024, emergency services were called to a home on Edna Avenue, Toongabbie, following reports a child had been struck by a vehicle.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command arrived to find a one-year-old girl had been struck by an Audi 4WD.

The child was treated by NSW ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

The driver, a 41-year-old man, was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
