Fatal Pedestrian Crash Southern Outlet, Hobart Sunday the 13th day of November, 2016 at 0304am, TAS

At approximately 0304am on Sunday the 13th of November, 2016 a 25 year old man from Tranmere was walking in a southerly direction on the Southern Outlet, Hobart approximately 500 meters south of Davey Street in the left lane.  The male pedestrian was struck by a south bound Nissan X-trail and as a result of the crash the male pedestrian was killed instantly, Tasmania Police say.

The Nissan was being driven by a 21 year old female from Geilston Bay.  The female driver, along with three female passengers were not injured during the collision.

The Southern Outlet was closed at the intersection with Davey Street for approximately four hours whilst Crash Investigation and Forensic personnel investigated the crash. The Southern Outlet was closed only to traffic travelling in a southerly direction.

At the time of the crash it was raining and visibility was restricted. Excessive vehicle speed or the use of alcohol is not suspected as a contributing factor in the crash, however investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.

The Crash Investigator, Senior Constable Adam HALL would like to speak to any person who may have seen the Nissan or the pedestrian at the time of the collision or prior.
