Fatal pedestrian incident, North Ipswich

A 79-year-old man has died following a fatal pedestrian incident that occured in North Ipswich this afternoon, July 9.

Initial investigations indicate shortly after 2.30pm, a pedestrian was crossing the road when he was struck by a car on David Trumpy Bridge.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old Ipswich man, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, an 85-year-old Ipswich man, was not physically injured and is assisting police with inquiries.

Police are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV from the area to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
