Fatal Pedestrian Strike - Pinelands 28 February

The Northern Territory Police Force are investigating a fatal pedestrian strike that occurred in Pinelands overnight.

About 10:20pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on the inbound lane of the Stuart Highway, Pinelands, near Foundation Road.

The adult male pedestrian suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. The driver stopped, remained at the scene, and tested negative for drugs and alcohol.

The highway was closed but has since re-opened.

Major Crash Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of the crash, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the crash, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around that time to make contact on 131 444 and quote reference number P26061057.

The lives lost on Territory roads in 2026 now stands at 4.
