Police will prepare a report for the coroner following a fatal shed fire in Ferntree Gully this afternoon, Victoria Police say.
Emergency services were called to Station Street following reports of an explosion just before 4.45pm.
A yet to identified man and a dog were located deceased inside the shed after the fire was extinguished.
No one else was injured as a result of the incident.
At this stage the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
