Fatal Traffic Crash Appeal At Burpengary

Police investigating a fatal traffic crash at Burpengary last night, 17 February, have launched an appeal for witnesses and dashcam vision.

Around 10.30pm, police and emergency services were called to the Bruce Highway near the Deception Bay exit after a white Isuzu truck travelling southbound in the northbound lanes collided head on with a white Honda Accord travelling northbound.

The Honda caught fire as a result of the crash. The driver, a 26-year-old Caboolture man, sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Isuzu, a 46-year-old Redcliffe man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

The northbound lanes of the Bruce Highway were closed for several hours and have since reopened.

Initial enquiries indicate the white Isuzu was one of a number of vehicles seen travelling southbound in the northbound lanes prior to the crash, but the exact circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. A number of vehicles also remain outstanding.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the Isuzu or other vehicles in the moments before the crash, and anyone who has relevant dashcam vision, to come forward.
