Fatal traffic crash in Landsborough, QLD

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred in Landsborough this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Initial investigations indicate around 5.20pm a utility travelling south along Steve Irwin Way has collided with the rear of a stationary hatchback.

As a result of the impact the hatchback has collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The 86-year-old passenger of the car, a woman from Glass House Mountains was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 67-year-old woman from Glass House Mountains was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the hatchback, a 66-year-old woman from Landsborough received non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the utility was not injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
