The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash in Mackay yesterday evening, Queensland Police say.
Initial investigations suggest around 6.20pm a motorcycle has left Glenella Connection Road and travelled down an embankment on to a pathway before throwing the rider and crashing.
The rider, a 55-year-old man, was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a critical condition but later passed away.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
