Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner after the death of a man in a single vehicle crash near Port Macquarie earlier today.
About 9.50am today an 85-year-old man was travelling south in his Toyota sedan on Ocean Drive at Lake Cathie.
About 2 kilometres north of Lake Cathie it appears the vehicle left the road and struck a power pole, NSW Police say.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was trapped until emergency services could release him.
Power lines were also dislodged during the incident.
The man was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics and conveyed to Port Macquarie Hospital in a critical condition.
Sadly the man later died in hospital.
Police from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
