Fatality Free Easter Weekend

Northern Territory Police are commending Territorians for their behaviour on NT roads over the Easter period.

Police maintained a visible presence over the four day period to prevent road-related trauma on NT roads.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Matthew Hollamby said, "COVID-19 is a key priority but we have not taken our eye off road safety in the NT.

"We urge all people to take care of themselves, their friends and family and the wider community both on the roads and in relation to COVID-19.

"There are travel restrictions including biosecurity check points in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the NT.

"This has reduced the volume of people travelling particularly on rural roads where 72% of our fatalities occur.

The number of lives lost on NT roads remains at six compared to seven at the same time last year.
