Today, in recognition of the National Tourism Week (April 24-30), the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, announced federal investments totalling $2,886,971 to protect, strengthen and grow Northern Ontario's tourism sector. Provided through the FedNor's core programs and the Government of Canada's Tourism Relief Fund (TRF), the investments will support 14 tourism initiatives across the region.

To help maximize the social and economic potential of the Northern Ontario's tourism sector, the funding will support a variety of strategic initiatives such as supporting waterfront development in Thunder Bay and the towns of Smooth Rock Falls and Marathon. It will assist tourism operators such as Lac Seul Resort, Noelville Family Resort and Crawford's Camp as they modernize and grow their operations.
