Today, Viviane Lapointe, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, announced a Government of Canada investment of $2,950,000 to help three Greater Sudbury businesses respond to global trade pressures and build for the future. The announcement was be made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor.
Soluroc Sudbury
$1,000,000
A non-repayable FedNor investment of $1 million will allow Soluroc Sudbury (formerly Fuller Industrial) to modernize its operations and automate manufacturing for its steel pipe products. Provided through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), this funding will be used to upgrade manufacturing facilities, purchase and install new equipment, integrate new technologies, and more. Once complete, this priority project will allow Soluroc Sudbury to increase production efficiency by 25 percent, restore competitiveness, strengthen productivity, and reduce tariff exposure across its manufacturing operations. This expansion will also help maintain more than 20 full-time jobs and create 12 more.
Jennmar Canada

FedNor is investing $1 million to help Jennmar Canada modernize its Sudbury operations so the company can expand domestic manufacturing of steel products. Provided through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), this non-repayable funding will be used to purchase and install high-efficiency manufacturing and processing equipment so the company can locally produce steel ground control products such as smooth bolts, cable and friction bolts, rebar, flat plates and more. As a result, Jennmar Canada expects to create 25 new jobs, rapidly increase production, expand product offerings, increase its domestic market share, and strengthen Canada's mining materials supply chain.
Lopes Limited
$975,000
FedNor funding of $975,000 will help Lopes Limited strengthen its manufacturing resilience and increase competitiveness by expanding its production line. Identified as a strategic priority to overcome global trade pressures, this expansion will allow the company to acquire and integrate advanced automation and production equipment. Provided through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), the non-repayable funding will also support advanced training and infrastructure enhancements. Once complete, this expansion will mean Lopes Limited can nearly quadruple parts production, reduce dependency on international supply chains and create more local jobs to staff the additional shift of workers needed to maximize production potential.
