A fifth man will be in court today charged with over 200 offences after police dismantled a large-scale fraud syndicate, recovering 18 luxury vehicles.
In July 2017, detectives from Campbelltown City Police Area Command established Strike Force Jib to investigate a syndicate involved in frauds against financial institutions. The financial loss exceeds $4.5 million dollars.
Police will allege in court the syndicate obtained luxury motor vehicles through fraudulent finance applications. The vehicles were then on-sold for financial gain in NSW and interstate.
As a result of their inquiries, police have recovered 18 vehicles, including Mercedes Benz's, Range Rovers, an Audi RS6, a GTS Holden Commodore, a Ford Ranger, and a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Strike force investigators previously charged four men, aged 36, 35, 34, and 25, who remain before the courts.
Previous attempts to arrest a 34-year-old man were unsuccessful. The man is alleged to have repeatedly rammed a police vehicle at Condell Park in September 2018 before evading police.
Following further inquiries, strike force investigators with the assistance of Strike Force Raptor, South West Metropolitan Regional Enforcement Squad (RES), the Dog Unit, and Polair, arrested the 34-year-old man at a Greenacre home last Friday (12 April 2019).
A Mercedes Benz C63 AMG was located in the garage and seized.
The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where five arrest warrants were executed for 210 offences.
He appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday (13 April 2019) and was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Wednesday 17 April 2019).
Campbelltown Police Area Command, Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Greg Inger, praised the work of the investigators in successfully dismantling the group.
"We are committed to tracking down, arresting and charging anyone involved in fraudulent activity and encourage community members to help us find these criminals," Detective Chief Inspector Greg Inger said.
