The Northern Rivers Region Enforcement Squad have extradited and charged a man following the alleged seizure of a large quantity of drugs, firearms, ammunition and Queensland Police uniforms in the Northern Rivers last month.
In June of this year officers from the Northern Rivers Region Enforcement Squad – with the assistance of Queensland Police - commenced investigations under Strike Force Gimeko into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs.
On Wednesday 30 September 2026, officers arrested two men aged 29 and 33 in the carpark of a club on Leisure Drive, Banora Point.
It will be alleged that located in two vehicles at the scene were 3kg of methylamphetamine, 1kg of cocaine, six rifles, ammunition and several Queensland Police uniforms items.
At the same time officers stopped a vehicle in nearby Greenway Drive where a 22-year-old man was arrested. Police will allege that the younger man had planned to meet with the other males.
All three men – from Queensland addresses – were taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
About 12.20pm officers executed a search warrant at a home on Bowen Loop, Cudgen, where a 32-year-old woman was arrested and taken to the same police station.
All four were charged and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, a 27-year-old man was arrested on the Gold Coast Highway at Palm Beach about 3.30pm on Monday 12 October 2026.
He was taken to Southport Watchhouse where officers from the Northern Rivers Region Enforcement Squad applied for his extradition to New South Wales.
The man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station yesterday (Tuesday 13 October 2026) where he was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug (greater than or equal to large commercial quantity).
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Wednesday 14 October 2026).
Inquiries are continuing under Strike Force Gimeko.
