A new international film festival, co-founded by a Lancaster University PhD film lecturer, is taking place in Morecambe this month.
Running until Sunday 29 October, the Bay International Film Festival is screening more than 50 films as well as hosting networking events, an awards ceremony, and six screenings of the best short films of this year.
The festival has been co-founded by Lancaster University PhD film lecturer Anna Kumacheva, herself an award-winning filmmaker and ex-judge at the Edinburgh Short Film Festival, alongside Darren Henderson, a film production company director and filmmaker.
Free community screenings and film discussion clubs are also on at West End Playhouse every Wednesday evening and a Film Forum talking about Storytelling in the 21st Century on Sunday 29 October will feature six industry professionals including producers, directors and writers.
Jan Harlan, a producer who worked with legendary film director Stanley Kubrick, will also take part in a panel Q&A on Saturday 28 October at Reel Cinema, an awards ceremony at the Midland on Friday 27 October, and will give a lecture on short films at the Film Forum 29 October.
Lancaster University is a community sponsor of the Festival.
