Final stage of Lalor streetscape improvements underway

The final stage of construction to improve the streetscape at Lalor Shopping Centre is now underway, with stage 3 works on May Road (adjacent to Peter Lalor Walk) starting in June 2021.

The latest works follow on from the upgrades completed on David Street earlier this year, including the installation of a new public toilet, the upgrade of the roundabout at David Street and Station Street, a new vehicle turning circle at the David Street end of May Road and the creation of an inviting social space with new seating and paving.

The upcoming upgrades to May Road will provide clear and safe access for shoppers to walk across May Road between the Lalor Library and Peter Lalor Walk. New trees and seats will be installed, together with upgraded turning circles for vehicles, making it easier for drivers to move through the busy shopping precinct.

The shops will be open for business-as-usual throughout these works.

It is expected that construction will be complete at the end of September 2021.

This project is delivered by the City of Whittlesea, in partnership with the Victorian Government.
