Find Your Spark

Bayside's Healthy Ageing Seniors Festival returns next month with a month-long celebration of community, creativity and connection for older residents.

Now in its 22nd year locally, the festival is part of the statewide Victorian Seniors Festival and proudly supported by Bayside City Council.

This year's theme, Connect, Create, and Celebrate, encourages residents to embrace what they love while sharing the experience with friends and neighbours in the community. Whether that's trying something new, reconnecting with previous interests, or simply enjoying good company, we have a program of free and low-cost events to suit.

The calendar is packed with live music events, history tours, exhibitions, author talks, come-and-try sessions, and a showstopping tribute concert at Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron.

Among the highlights is the Sandringham Life Activities Club's (SLAC) open morning tea at the historic Masonic Hall on Abbott Street.

"It's such a joy welcoming visitors, sharing a cuppa, and seeing people discover something new to look forward to each week," said Judi from SLAC, who has helped host this event for 17 years.

"There's real satisfaction in watching someone go from visitor to member of SLAC and seeing the spark it adds to their life," Judi added.

The festival also supports Council's commitment to positive ageing and Every Age Counts campaign to combat ageism.
