A woman has been fined after she was stopped for travelling at almost 80km/h above the speed limit south of Tamworth last night., NSW Police say
Around 10pm (Sunday 4 November 2018), Oxley Highway Patrol officers stopped a Hyundai Veloster on the New England Highway at Gowrie, approximately 35km south of Tamworth.
Police had detected the vehicle travelling at 178km/h. That section of the New England Highway has a 100km/h sign-posted speed limit.
The 20-year-old female driver was issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
Her licence was suspended for six months and the car’s number plates have been confiscated for three months.
The infringement notice carries a penalty of $2435 and six demerit points.
