Finlay's parochialism helps no one

Members,

The only way a Tasmanian AFL team will be successful is if it is supported across the State.

Janie Finlay's North-South parochialism today is exactly what's held us back from our own AFL team for decades.

There's no doubt that once the licence is secured Tasmanians will benefit in every region, and AFL games will be shared around the State.

Home games will be played in Launceston and Hobart and pre-season and AFLW games played right across the State, including the North West – meaning the North and North West will not lose any content, but will actually gain matches, including premiership season, pre-season, AFLW, VFL and VFLW.

And while fixturing is a matter for the AFL, of course it's our expectation that big games will be played both in the North and the South, spreading the economic benefits in every region.

I would also point out that any match that, at last, features our own Tasmanian team will be a 'blockbuster' for all Tasmanians.

We are all Tasmanians. As a proud Member for Bass, and fighter for my constituents, this sort of silly parochialism needs to be called out.

Ms Finlay has once again confirmed that Labor are becoming even more anti-everything than the Greens.
