Shortly before midnight on Friday 2 March 2018, reports were received of a fire at the Allgoods store on Formby Road, Devonport, Tasmania Police say.
Members of Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service attended.
On arrival the building was fully engulfed in flames and totally destroyed.
A neighbouring property also sustained minor damage.
Due to the intensity and size of the fire residents of nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution, however no injuries were reported.
A fire scene watch was established and enquiries regarding the cause of the fire are continuing.
Damage to the building and stock is estimated at $2.5 milliion.
Police are appealing to anyone that witnessed the fire or observed fireworks going off in the area to call 131444, Crime Stoppers.
