Fire callout leads to cannabis grow house in Wollongong suburb

Police are appealing for information after cannabis and cannabis plants were allegedly located following a house fire in a suburb of Wollongong this afternoon.

About 2.50pm Sunday, emergency services were called to a house on Marshal Street in Dapto, following reports of a fire in the roof.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers attended to the blaze, which was extinguished a short time later. Minimal damage was caused to the premises.

No one was at the home at the time of the incident and police have received no reports of injury.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended, and upon further inspection, about 200 cannabis plants and a quantity of dried Cannabis were allegedly located.

A crime scene has been established and investigations into the incident continue.
