Bushfires NT (BFNT) and the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service (NTFRS) have declared the Fire Danger Period over several fire weather forecast areas within the Arnhem, Barkly, Savanna and Alice Springs Fire Management Zones.
Fire Danger Period 1 November - 28 November 2025.
Carpentaria West, Carpentaria East, Katherine Fire Protection Zone, Gregory South East, Arnhem West and Arnhem East Fire Weather Forecast Districts.
Fire Danger Period from 1 November 2025 - 31 January 2026.
Barkly North, Barkly South, Tanami North and Tanami South Fire Weather Forecast Districts.
Fire Danger Period from 7 November 2025 - 31 January 2026.
Alice Springs Fire Protection Zone, Simpson East, Simpson West Fire Weather Forecast Districts.
Due to seasonal weather conditions dry, connected vegetation and low soil moisture has also resulted in elevated fuel loads in some areas with warmer temperatures likely to persist into early 2026.
With recent bushfire activity within the Savanna Fire Management Zone, it highlights the potential for fires to develop and persist under challenging conditions across these districts.
Authorities urge all Territorians to prepare now to protect lives, property, and the
environment by:
Reviewing your bushfire survival plan and ensuring all household members understand it.Ensuring firebreaks are maintained at least 4 metres wide.Familiarising yourselves with the Australian Fire Danger Rating System (AFDRS) and Australian Warning System (AWS).Staying informed via SecureNT, ABC Radio, and social media channels for Bushfires NT and NT Fire Rescue Service.
There are also changes to permit requirements within the prescribed area:
