A 38-year-old man has been charged with multiple firearm offences after police allegedly located homemade weapons during a search of a property in Ipswich on 6 August.
Around 4.30pm Detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Bundamba address where they allegedly seized two homemade firearms, including a shortened firearm and a shortened slam gun, two homemade crossbows, and two homemade firearm silencers.
The man has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of weapons and one count each of manufacturing weapons while unlicensed and possess utensils.
He is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 27.
Ipswich Detective Inspector Michael Manago said the result demonstrated police will continue to target the unlawful manufacture and possession of weapons.
"Homemade firearms are inherently unpredictable and present a significant risk to the safety of our community and our officers." Detective Inspector Manago said.
" Every illegal weapon seized is one less weapon that has the potential to be used in criminal activity or placed into the hands of the wrong person.
"Anyone who chooses to manufacture or possess prohibited weapons should expect that police will investigate those offences thoroughly and take appropriate action."
