Firearms and drugs seized during search warrant, NSW

Police investigating firearm and drug supply have seized two handguns during the search of a home in Sydney’s south-west this morning, NSW Police say.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Firearms Squad established Strike Force Kelmscott to investigate the supply of firearm and drug offences in Sydney’s south-west.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Granville Street, Smithfield, about 8am today.

During the search, police located a silver revolver .357 Magnum Colt with black handle and ammunition inside a compartment on a jet ski, a loaded Luger semi automatic firearm, with attached magazine; and resealable plastic bags containing white powder.

The items were seized for forensic examination.

A resident of the home – a 36-year-old man – assisted police with their inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to the supply of illicit drugs or firearms in their local area to call Crime Stoppers.
