Firearms charges, Charters Towers

Yesterday, officers from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) Charters Towers charged a 21-year-old Charters Towers man with a number of offences following an incident at a camping ground earlier this month, Queensland Police say.

On August 4, it is alleged a man armed with a firearm fired a number of shots near a group of people at a Charters Towers camping area.

Yesterday, MOCS (Rural) officers located and charged a 21-year-old man. He was charged with a number of offences including unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon whilst under the influence of liquor or a drug, dangerous conduct with a weapon, discharge a weapon in a public place and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.

The man will next appear in the Charters Towers Magistrates Court on September 3.
