NT Fire and Rescue Crews were called to a large bushfire near Tennant Creek at around 10:30pm last night.
Upon arrival several assets including the Juno Horse Centre and the Worker's Camp were under threat. Crews worked tirelessly through the night to bring the fire under control, with members still on the fireground early this morning.
No evacuations were required; however, some stock was relocated at around 1am as a precaution.
Firebreaks played a crucial role in preventing further damage and enabled firefighters to access and control the blaze.
Police also attended the scene and assisted with relocating the sole occupant of Rusty's Camp, which was impacted by the fire.
The fire will continue to be monitored over the coming days as temperatures rise and winds increase.
A/Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Territory Operations, Terry Trewin thanked crews and landholders for their incredible efforts over night.
"Local landholders played a vital role in last night's response. We thank them for their preparedness, cooperation, and support in assisting firefighting efforts," he said.
"Our crews worked tirelessly in challenging conditions to protect properties and manage the fire. Their professionalism, endurance, and teamwork is commended."
Severe fire danger conditions continue across the Barkly region. It is important that landholders stay prepared by maintaining firebreaks and clearing around their property. It is also important to call 000 immediately if you see an unattended, don't assume someone else has called it in and keep up to date on the latest alerts at Secure NT here.
