First Responders Day returns to stores on 24 June to acknowledge our front-line heroes

Tuesday 1 June 2021

Australian Retailers Association's First Responders Day will return to stores on Thursday 24 June - with retailers large and small to offer special discounts to our front-line heroes, thanking them for their service to the Australian community through Covid, bushfires and beyond.

ARA CEO Paul Zahra said this year's event builds on the strong success of the ARA's inaugural First Responders Day in Australia held mid-pandemic in 2020.

"First Responders Day is a fantastic way to acknowledge our brave and tireless professionals and volunteers who keep our community safe and we are pleased this has become a permanent fixture on Australia's retail calendar. Retailers are keen to show their support and appreciation for this special community for all the work they do in times of crisis," Mr Zahra said.

"Over the past year we've navigated the Covid pandemic and natural disasters including floods and bushfires, and it's our front-line workers who are always there to respond - the doctors, nurses, police and emergency service personnel to name a few. They do an incredible job to keep us all safe and First Responders Day is the Australian retail community's way of saying 'thanks'."

A full list of participating retail businesses, and the offers that will be available, will be continually updated on the campaign website: retail.org.au/firstrespondersday. Retail businesses can register their interest here.

Offers will be available to Australian-based first responders. They include medical and health workers including doctors, nurses and paramedics, as well as ambulance staff, police personnel, firefighters, defence and border force personnel, SES, lifesavers and quarantine workers. A full list of eligible first responders can be found here. First responders can access discounts by showing a photo ID which shows their work identity. Alternatively, they can shop in their work uniform.

We thank our ARA members and strategic partners for their continued support of First Responders Day.
