Five arrested in Sydney joint counter-terror raids

Five people have been arrested in relation to the fatal shooting of Curtis Cheng outside Police Headquarters at Parramatta on Friday 2 October, NSW Police said.

The arrests were made as part of a joint investigation by the NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) and State Crime Command Homicide Squad.

At 6am today more than 200 officers executed warrants at premises located at Bursill Street, Guildford; Lane Street, Wentworthville; Lockwood Street, Merrylands; and, Booth Street, Marsfield.

Those arrested include a 16-year-old male and an 18-year-old man from Wentworthville; a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old man from Merrylands; and, a 22-year-old man from Marsfield.

The five men have been taken into custody/detained and will be taken to various police stations where they will be interviewed in relation to Friday’s fatal shooting.

Further comment about the operation will be made later in the morning.
