It's been a wild night in Melbourne's west with police arresting five offenders on the hop for an aggravated burglary whilst on their way to pick up an offender who was part of a trio arrested for ramming police in a Kluger bearing stolen plates.
The series of events kicked off in Thornbury where detectives observed the suspicious Kluger at the intersection of Clarendon and High Streets around 4am.
Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle in Carlton and were rammed by the Kluger.
The Police Air Wing Picked up the silver Kluger on the Westgate Bridge and monitored its movement across the western suburbs.
The Kluger parked under the Westgate Bridge and the driver and his passenger got into a waiting Yaris which was then followed by police into Sunshine West.
The Yaris stopped in Barnes Court where the duo from the Kluger got out and were arrested by police.
The driver of the Yaris continued to Felstead Avenue where he parked, threw the keys to the car under another car and fled.
He was arrested by the police K9 unit shortly after.
Whilst a police unit from Keilor Downs was on their way to assist with transporting the offenders, they saw a number of males, one holding a crowbar, jumping over a high front fence of a home on Wright Street just after 5am.
The officers challenged the offenders who took off in the stolen vehicle they had arrived in.
The constables called for back-up and the stolen car crashed into a fence at the intersection of Anderson Road and Wright Street.
The two offenders from the stolen car fled on foot and were tracked by the police K9 unit and arrested close-by.
Other local police units and along with the CIRT arrived and three additional offenders were arrested.
The stolen car was searched and a firearm was located.
The same car is believed to have been involved in a carjacking in St Albans just after 2am in 16 August.
The five offender, believed to be aged in their late teen and early twenties, are currently assisting with enquiries.
The trio from the first incident, aged 25, 28 and 31, are also being interviewed.
