Five youths have been arrested over reports of anti-social behaviour and assault in Launceston CBD on Friday afternoon.
The youths were located on Main Street, Launceston, about 3pm after earlier allegedly engaging in anti-social behaviour, stealing and assaults on staff at various retail outlets on Charles Street, Launceston.
Inspector Aleena Crack said the five female youths would be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
"Regardless of your age, there is no excuse for engaging in anti-social behaviour and assaults in our public places. If you do, then you can expect to be dealt with by police," Inspector Crack said.
Anyone who witnessed the incidents in Charles Street earlier today, or has CCTV footage, is asked to contact police on 131 444.
