Five youths arrested in Derrimut

Police arrested five youths in an allegedly stolen vehicle in Derrimut on Thursday night.

A member of the public called police after spotting his stolen car in Tarneit shortly after 7pm.

The Air Wing attended, monitoring the vehicle from above and guiding police on the ground to the vehicle's location.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed causing one of the vehicle's tyres to blow out along Mt Derrimut Road.

Five male youths were arrested in the area a short time later.

Four teenagers from Albion, Meadow Heights and Highton, ranging in age from 13 to 16, were each charged with a range of offences including reckless conduct endangering serious injury, theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and commit indictable offence while on bail.

They were remanded to appear at a children's court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Sydenham male was charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and commit indictable offence while on bail.

He was bailed to appear at children's court at a later date.
