ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT NITMILUK CENTRE FROM FRIDAY MORNING
Moderate rainfall has been observed across the Katherine River catchment since Wednesday, resulting in river level rises along the Seventeen Mile Creek, Birdie Creek, and Katherine River. Minor flooding is possible at Nitmiluk Centre from Friday morning.
Continued rainfall associated with the monsoon trough may cause further river level rises. The situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte, North West Coastal and Carpentaria Coastal River catchments.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
Minor flooding is possible along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 1.15 m and rising slowly, below the minor flood level (3.00 m). The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre may reach around the minor flood level (3.00 m) Friday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
