MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT KATHERINE BRIDGE FROM MONDAY EVENING
Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle has been observed across the Katherine River catchment since Sunday morning. Further showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days.
River level rises are occurring along the Katherine River and minor flooding is occurring at Nitmiluk Centre. Moderate flooding is likely along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre from late Monday morning, with river levels expected to peak below the major flood level late Monday evening. A refined peak forecast will be provided Monday afternoon. Downstream along the Katherine River at Katherine Bridge, minor flooding may develop from Monday evening.
This situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End including the Katherine River catchment. A Severe Weather Warning is also current for parts of the Northern Territory.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is possible along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 5.01 m and rising, with minor flooding. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (5.50 m) late Monday morning.
Katherine Town:
Minor flooding is possible along the Katherine River at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 13.61 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge may reach around the minor flood level (16.00 m) Monday evening.
