ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:

MAJOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT ADELAIDE RIVER TOWN DURING MONDAY MORNING

Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed across the Adelaide River catchment since Sunday morning. Further showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days.

Moderate flooding is occurring at Adelaide River Town and the river is expected to exceed the major flood level Monday morning and may reach around 12.60 m late Monday morning.

The situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End including the Adelaide River catchment. A Severe Weather Warning are also current for parts of the Northern Territory.

Upper Adelaide River:

Major flooding is expected along the Upper Adelaide River.

The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town is currently at 12.01 m and rising, with moderate flooding. The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town is expected to exceed the major flood level (12.30 m) Monday morning. The river may reach around 12.60 m late Monday morning, with major flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

Adelaide River and Margaret River:

Flooding is likely along the Margaret River and the Adelaide River below Adelaide River Town.
