ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
MAJOR FLOODING EXPECTED ALONG THE DALY RIVER AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION FROM SATURDAY EVENING
DALY RIVER POLICE STATION MAY EXCEED 14.80 M SUNDAY EVENING
Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed across the Daly River catchment since Wednesday, with particularly heavy rainfall during Thursday and Friday, resulting in river level rises along the Daly River. Moderate flooding is occurring at Daly River Police Station, with major flooding expected from Saturday evening.
Further rainfall is possible over the next few days. The situation is being closely monitored and the warning will be updated as required.
A Major Flood Warning is current for the Katherine River, and a Flood Watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte, North West Coastal and Carpentaria Coastal River catchments.
Daly River above Douglas River:
River level rises are occurring in the upper Daly River, and flooding is expected to continue for at least the next few days.
Fergusson River:
River levels are elevated along the Fergusson River and tributaries.
Lower Daly River:
Major flooding is expected along the Daly River.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is currently at 13.96 m and rising, with moderate flooding. The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is expected to exceed the major flood level (14.00 m) Saturday evening. The river is likely to exceed 14.50 m late Sunday morning, with further rises exceeding 14.80 m possible Sunday evening, with major flooding. These levels are above the major floor levels observed in February 2026. Further rises are likely as upstream flows arrive.
