Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle since Sunday has caused significant river level rises along the Katherine River and its tributaries. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk peaked at 7.53 m Wednesday afternoon with major flooding. The flood peak is currently near Katherine Bridge, which is expected to peak this morning near 17.6 m above the major flood level.
Further showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days and further river level rises are possible. This situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

Major flooding is occurring along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre peaked at 7.53 m around 03:30 pm Wednesday, with major flooding. The river is currently at 6.69 m and falling, with major flooding. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is likely to remain above the major flood level (6.50 m) Thursday morning.
Katherine Town:
Major flooding is occurring along the Katherine River at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 17.53 m and rising slowly, with major flooding. The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is likely to remain above the major flood level (17.50 m) Thursday morning. The river is expected to peak near 17.60 m Thursday morning, with major flooding.
