MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT KATHERINE BRIDGE FROM LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING
Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle since Sunday has caused significant river level rises along the Katherine River and its tributaries. Along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk, river levels peaked above the moderate flood level overnight Monday due to combined flows from Seventeen Mile Creek and along the upper Katherine River at Birdie Creek. Renewed rises are occurring at Birdie Creek and are approaching a second larger flood peak Tuesday morning. As the flows from this second flood peak travel downstream, further rises to the major flood level are possible at Nitmiluk from late Tuesday afternoon. Downstream at Katherine Bridge, minor flooding is likely from Tuesday morning, with further rises to the moderate flood level possible from overnight Tuesday. The river level may reach the major flood level late Wednesday morning.
Further showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days. This situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is possible along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 5.86 m and steady, with moderate flooding. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre may exceed the major flood level (6.50 m) late Tuesday afternoon. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
Katherine Town:
Major flooding is possible along the Katherine River at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 15.57 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is likely to reach around the minor flood level (16.00 m) Tuesday morning. The river may exceed the moderate flood level (16.50 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The river may reach the major flood level (17.50 m) late Wednesday morning.
