Flying Squad Nabs Mackay Man on 48 Sex Offences

Officers from the State Flying Squad (SFS) have arrested and charged a 37-year-old South Mackay man with 48 sexual offences during a deployment to Mackay to provide local police with additional investigative capacity.

Police executed a search warrant, locating and seizing a phone.

It will be alleged the man recorded private acts without consent, took intimate images without consent and distributed intimate images without the subject's consent causing distress.

He was charged with 28 counts of distributing intimate images, 17 counts of observations or recordings in breach of privacy (genital or anal region) and 3 counts of observations or recordings in breach of privacy.

He is expected to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on 7 January 2026.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward by contacting Mackay CIB. Alternatively, call Policelink on 131 444 or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.

Detective Inspector Joe Nixon said apprehending an offender of this serious nature demonstrates the versatile skillset SFS officers bring when they're deployed to support local officers around Queensland.
