Football Australia is pleased to announce its signing as a Sports Partner of the Australian Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020.
The Australian Pavilion is Australia's physical presence at the World Exposition, which will be hosted in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.
Generally occurring every five years, World Expositions provide opportunities for nations across the world to come together and share culture and value, as well as technological and economic capabilities.
There are three themes for Dubai Expo 2020 - sustainability, mobility and opportunity - and Football Australia's involvement will see the world game linking with a World Expo, to help showcase Australia's diversity, ingenuity and contributions to the world.
Ahead of the AFC Asian Cup 2019, also hosted in the United Arab Emirates, the Socceroos proudly took part in the first public event hosted on the Australian Pavilion's plot of land.
Rhyan Grant was one of the Football Australia representatives who visited Australia's plot of land at Expo 2020 back in January 2019, to check out the site and take part in a friendly crossbar challenge with Expo 2020 team members and volunteers from a diverse range of nationalities.
Taking in a snapshot of the now completed Australian Pavilion, Grant was impressed by the progress made.
"What they've been able to do in a couple of years and for the Expo to be there and show what us Australians are about, our culture and what people can experience is really cool", he said, speaking on the significance of bringing a piece of Australia to Dubai and the world.
"A lot of different countries and cultures play the world game, so for us as Aussies to show what we're about, in regards to football, is awesome.
"For those who get to go out and see it first-hand, it would be a great experience to really get a gauge of what us as Australians are about."
Football Australia's announcement as a Sports Partner of the Australian Pavilion at Expo 2020 comes as a continuation of football's commitment to the Australian Government's Sports Diplomacy 2030 Strategy. Work with Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade has spanned more than 30 countries over the last five years.
