A former deputy secretary of the Department of Education and Training, Darrell Fraser, was today convicted and sentenced at Melbourne's County Court to a two-year Community Correction Order and 300 hours of community service following Operation Dunham, an investigation by the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission, IBAC.
Operation Dunham was an investigation into the Department of Education and Training's Ultranet project and related contracts.
Mr Fraser pled guilty to Obtaining a Financial Advantage by Deception and Misconduct in Public Office relating to the awarding of a contract that amounted to $999,996 for the review of a number of learning technology projects, including the Ultranet project, managed by the Department of Education and Training. Two other co-accused in this matter are awaiting trial.
As part of Operation Dunham, IBAC held public hearings from 15 February to 16 March 2016 and tabled a special report to Parliament on 27 January 2017. As the matter is still before the courts, the report is currently unavailable.
